DLSS 5 in American Truck Simulator: Easier to Install, But Is It Worth It?

DLSS 5 is now much easier to add to American Truck Simulator thanks to the latest DLSS 5 Swapper. What used to require installing multiple programs and manually configuring several different components is now basically a one-click installation.

The new interface is also much easier to understand. You select American Truck Simulator, install the required components, launch the game, and you’re ready to test it. For anyone who avoided the older method because it looked too complicated, this version is a major improvement.

That said, the performance and compatibility results are not nearly as impressive as the installation process.

On my setup, DLSS 5 would not work at triple 4K, or 11520×2160. Dropping down to triple 1440p worked, but performance took a major hit. Instead of seeing around 70 FPS, I was often closer to 40 FPS with DLSS 5 running.

So while DLSS 5 can improve certain aspects of the image, you need to decide whether the visual difference is worth losing nearly half your frame rate.

The biggest improvement here may actually be the installer itself. DLSS 5 Swapper has turned what used to be a complicated process into something almost anyone can install in about a minute.

For me, the installation gets a big thumbs up. The actual performance benefit in ATS is much harder to recommend.
